Chelsea - Hiddink to give Chelsea youngsters chance

Published on: 16 February 2016

Chelsea’s interim boss has suggested he will provide more opportunities for the clubs young players if the club goes out of the Champions League and the FA Cup. Tonight Chelsea face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League round-of-16 and face Manchester City to Stamford Bridge in the FA Cup at the weekend. If the club goes out of the FA Cup and Champions League they will be left without a chance of a trophy this year. According to ESPN, Hiddink said that could prompt him to offer players such as Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Kenedy and Bertrand Traore more first-team chances:

"This is a key week as to whether we go in a nice flow into the next round of the FA Cup, go further in the Champions League or the other scenario is there," the Dutchman said.

"We need to see what the near future can bring with some big experiments, and see what can be done with younger players who are knocking on the door.

"I am happy youngsters are now coming up at this club. I was happy with [Bertrand] Traore, who worked so hard in training, so he deserved to come in. Young players have the opportunity to make an impact."
