Chelsea to allow Jorginho to move on this summer

Chelsea are ready to allow Jorginho to move back to Italy this summer, 90min understands.

The Brazilian-born Italian has been a crucial player for Chelsea since arriving from Napoli in 2018 but plans are now afoot for significant personnel changes under Thomas Tuchel.

Jorginho and long-term midfield partner N'Golo Kante are both out of contract in 2023, and as it stands, neither have held talks with Chelsea over a new deal.

90min understands that 30-year-old Jorginho has interest from Spain, but it is believed he wants a move back to Serie A - where interest is high.

Juventus are known admirers while former boss Maurizio Sarri, who managed Jorginho at Napoli and signed him for Chelsea, would be keen to reunite Lazio. Jose Mourinho's Roma, who won the inaugural Europa Conference League last season, are also being kept informed of the situation.

Kante also has interest from clubs, but Chelsea sources believe that of the two, Jorginho is the most likely to depart this summer.

Moving on from Jorginho would allow Tuchel the chance to rebuild in midfield, which is likely to include the introduction of Conor Gallagher.

Listen now to 90min's brand new podcast, Talking Transfers, with Scott SaundersGraeme Bailey & Toby Cudworth. This week they discuss West Ham's Declan Rice contract plans, Gabriel Jesus' Manchester City future and how Aston Villa still want Yves Bissouma despite adding Boubacar Kamara to their ranks. There's also chat on Kylian Mbappe's decision to stay at PSG, Aurelien Tchouameni & Mohamed Salah.

The 22-year-old enjoyed a superb loan spell at Crystal Palace last season, flourishing under the tutelage of Patrick Vieira, and his form earned him a call-up to Gareth Southgate's senior England squad.

He is one of a host of Chelsea loanees returning to Stamford Bridge this summer, and 90min understands that Gallagher will hold talks with Tuchel, where he'll make it clear that he wants to fight for a first-team place at Chelsea.

In addition to Gallagher, the Blues may also promote a handful of other young players to Tuchel's squad - including Levi Colwill, who has shone on loan at Championship play-off finalists Huddersfield Town.
