Chelsea youngster linked with Lazio switch

Lazio are lining up a move for Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma in the forthcoming January transfer window.

Despite the player’s high wage demands, Biancocelesti coach Stefano Pioli is eager to bolster his defensive back four, and views the Premier League starlet as an ideal addition.

Rome newspaper Il Messaggero have confirmed Lazio’s interest in the player, stating that the London-based outfit could relinquish the player’s services on loan after Christmas.

The Aquile are in desperate need of some defensive reinforcements in the new year, as defender Stefan de Vrij is still expected to the miss the remainder of the Serie A season with a knee injury.

Chelsea would reportedly want an estimated €1 million fee for the temporary loan deal, something which the Roman club would be willing to pay.

The only obstacle that could possibly prevent the potential transfer is the player’s excessive wage demands, of which are currently estimated to be around €2 million per season.

However, if a compromise is found then a deal could be expected to be completed in the next month.
