Chelseaââ¬â¢s youth team captain Daniel Pappoe will not be included in the Black Stars team for next monthââ¬â¢s 2014 World Cup qualifiers, GHANAsoccernet.com can reveal.
The 19-year-old arrived in the country on Monday night to join the Black Satellites camp to prepare for the FIFA U20 World Cup in Turkey.
He was however a surprise participant in the Black Starsââ¬â¢ second training session on Tuesday morning.
Pappoe had not been called up by coach Akwasi Appiah for the 2014 World Cup qualifiers, thus raising a lot of uncertainties as to his participation in Tuesdayââ¬â¢s training session.
But GHANAsoccernet.com can confirm the Chelsea youth captain was allowed to train with the Black Stars on the request of coach Sellas Tetteh.
This was to keep the player active with the temporal suspension of the Ghana U20 camp for the midweek matches of the Ghana Premier League.
ââ¬ÅPappoe was allowed to train with the Black Stars on the request of coach Sellas Tetteh,â⬠Ghana FA Communications Director Ibrahim Sannie-Daara told GHANAsoccernet.com.
ââ¬ÅHe (Pappoe) arrived to an empty (Ghana U20) camp because most of the Black Satellites players have been released to their clubs for Premier League games in midweek.
ââ¬ÅIt was therefore a gesture to keep the player active since his arrival on Monday night.ââ¬
Pappoe is one of four foreign-based players to have arrived in the country to join the Ghana U20 team.
He follows the earlier arrivals of Anderlechtââ¬â¢s Frank Acheampong, Thomas Tei Patey from Atletico Madrid and Rayo Vallecanoââ¬â¢s Anthony Manison.
