Chelsea's Essien hints at quick Ghana return

Ghana midfielder Michael Essien has hinted that he will return to the Black Stars soon as he has regained his full fitness.

The Chelsea temporarily quit the Black Stars last month to give him the opportunity to regain his full fitness after recovering from a serious knee injury.

He has now recovered from that setback and his blistering form for Chelsea has catapulted the club to the top of the Premier League.

Essien says he will return to the Black Stars to boost his country’s quest to qualify for the African Cup of Nations and 2014 World Cup.

"Of course I will be back for the Black Stars. I had serious injury and was out for a long time," Essien said.

"The Ghana coach who unfortunately left told me that he will give me time to regain my fitness before I return.

"I have not turned my back on my nation so once I regain my full fitness I will be back playing for my country."

His remarkable form after scoring three goals in five matches for the club so far this season but says his hard work shows on the pitch.

“I have no secret; I just try to give my best when I am on the field,” Essien told Citi FM’s breakfast show with Bernard Avle.

Even though he did not state his exact date of return he is expected to join the Black Stars early next year.
