Asante Kotoko coach Mariano Barreto has been heavily criticised after he described Dawu Park pitch as dreadful following his side's 3-2 win over Inter Allies earlier this month.

“If we want to help the development of football in Ghana, we cannot play on this kind of pitch. This pitch is not well planned and I’m surprised how it was approved.

“It is not good for the security of the players and it’s not enough to blame players because they are not doing well. They deserve the right conditions to play.

“I’m not talking against anyone but I think we should provide the right conditions for the development of the game,” he said in a post-match presser.

His comments infuriated Nana Tufuhene Ofosu Yeboah I, chief of Dawu, who called for the head of the Portuguese.

In an interview with Peace FM, Nana Yeboah said “That white man won’t help Kotoko. They should sack him. What’s the essence of paying him the GHs 8000 salary.

“I’m very pissed at his comments about the Dawu Park. If individuals have struggled to put this together and you run it down like that, it’s unfortunate,” he continued.

“If he is a good coach he would have been considered for the job when there were vacancies at Tottenham and other clubs. He is not offering Kotoko anything. It’s better the club compiles his monthly salary of $8000 and use it to fast track their Adako Jachie project.

“The game is over, the league is beyond us so what else is he offering, they should sack him,” Nana Yeboah furiously declared.

Barreto is no longer trusted by Kotoko fans after failing to beat Hearts of Oak in the potential title decider last Sunday.

The 1-0 defeat have seen Hearts open up a three-point lead with the Phobians six points away from being crowned champions.
