Chiellini praises Serie A table-toppers Napoli

Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini has stated that Serie A leaders Napoli are currently the most organised of the teams battling for the title.

The Bianconeri extended their winning run in Serie A to nine games with a 2-1 win over Sampdoria at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris on Sunday, with their last defeat dating back to late October.

“The defeat against Sassuolo [last defeat before the run] was like a wake-up call, we didn’t have a great start to the season,” he told Sky Sport.

“The players had the desire to bounce back and perform; last season we had four of the best midfielders in Europe in [Andrea] Pirlo [who now plays for New York City FC], [Arturo] Vidal [now plays for Bayern Munich], [Claudio] Marchisio, and [Paul] Pogba – we don’t have that anymore.

“The coach tries to set out the best team regardless.

“The spat with [Leonardo] Bonucci? We enjoy a special partnership, it’s been going on for four years – we embraced after that, everything is fine.

“Serie A title race? Napoli are the most organised team, but we only think about ourselves.”

Chiellini concluded by praising youngster Daniele Rugani, squashing rumours that the young defender will leave the Juventus Stadium.

“Rugani is slowly being integrated into the line-up, I’ve read some clubs are interested but he’s not going anywhere.
