Christian Eriksen set to confirm Brentford departure

Published on: 14 June 2022

Christian Eriksen is expected to leave Brentford once his six-month deal with the Bees expires at the end of June, 90min understands.

The Denmark international signed for Brentford on the final day of the January transfer window after he mutually agreed to part ways with previous club Inter. He was not permitted to play in Serie A after being fitted with an ICD.

Eriksen reunited with former Denmark youth coach Thomas Frank in west London and played a crucial role in ensuring Brentford weren't dragged into a relegation battle. The Bees finished in 13th place with 46 points - more than the tallies of fellow promoted clubs Watford and Norwich combined.

Brentford remained hopeful that Eriksen would commit his long-term future to the club. The 29-year-old is not thought to be demanding close to the six-figure weekly wage he was on at Inter.

However, 90min understands that the Bees will fail in their bid to keep Eriksen around. He is currently weighing up offers from Tottenham and Manchester United - Spurs have been confident of striking a deal to re-sign the playmaker in recent months.
