Christian Pulisic is set to return to Borussia Dortmund's squad for their away trip to Hertha Berlin after missing the goalless draw against Wolfsburg on Sunday with muscular problems.
Pulisic, 19, resumed training with the team on Tuesday as coach Peter Stoger stepped up the preparation for Friday's away match at Hertha Berlin.
"It looks good. He has little to no problems," Stoger told reporters in Dortmund. "As things stand, he'll be an option for the weekend."
The United States international's likely return to the matchday squad will be welcomed by Stoger, who, against Wolfsburg, handed England youth international Jadon Sancho his first Bundesliga start.
Having signed defender Manuel Akanji from Basel earlier this week, Dortmund could allow centre-backs Marc Bartra and Neven Subotic a winter transfer.
While Subotic has struggled to get near the first XI for nearly two years, Bartra has not been able to find his form since sustaining severe injuries to his right arm in April's attack on the team bus.
Speaking at the side of the ongoing trial against a man only identified by the courts as Sergej W., who attacked the Dortmund players on their way to a Champions League match against Monaco, Dortmund lawyer Alfons Becker told reporters that "Mr. Bartra still does not feel well."
And, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's future at the club still unclear, summer signing Andrej Yaromolenko struggling for form and Maximilian Philipp yet to return from a knee injury, Dortmund are now also looking forward to Marco Reus' comeback.
Stoger said the Germany international is now "involved more and more" in training, which can "give him the feeling of being closer to the squad," and might become an option for the home game against Freiburg on Jan. 27.
