Striker Christopher Antwi-Adjei grabbed a consolation for SC Paderborn 07 in their 2-1 loss against FC Erzgebirge Aue in the German Bundesliga II on Saturday afternoon.

Paderborn went into the match with the aim of ending their two-game winless run.

But they were dealt an early blow as Emmanuel Iyoha fetched the opener for Aue in the 11th minute.

Paderborn’s hopes of restoring parity was dented after captain Uwe Hunemeier was sent off for a dangerous play on the stroke of half time.

The hosts doubled their lead through substitute forward Philipp Zulechner in the 81st minute.

With the game looking like ending in a defeat for the visitors, coach Steffen Baumgart threw Ghanaian youngster Antwi-Adjei into the fray in the 82nd minute.

The 25-year-old combined beautifully with compatriot Bernard Tekpetey to score a face-saving goal for his side five minutes after coming on for Sven Michels.

The goal was Antwi-Adjei’s second in 22 league games for SC Paderborn.
