Former Under-20 assistant coach CK Akunnor has backed the team to win this month’s African Youth Championship in Algeria.

The Black Satellites are rounding up their preparations in Spain ahead of the biannual event in the North African country.

Akunnor, who quit his post to concentrate on club duties at Hearts of Oak believes the team has depth in quality to conquer Africa for the fourth time.

“I think we have a good team and a competent coach and so there is no cause for alarm at all,” Akunnor told Radio XYZ

“These are players who are playing regularly for top Premier League clubs in Ghana.

“Very active players with massive potential to become champions. I have no doubt in my mind that they will succeed in Algeria.

“All that they require from us is our support and prayers.”

The Ghanaians will battle the youth team of Spanish giants Barcelona in their last friendly on Tuesday.

The Black Satellites are drawn in pool A where they will battle hosts Algeria, Egypt and Benin.
