COACH D'AVERSA ON THE EVE OF LAZIO VS. PARMA: "EVERY MATCH NEEDS TO BE PLAYED WITH MAXIMUM DETERMINATION AND COMMITMENT"

Ahead of today’s round of 16 Coppa Italia clash against Lazio, Roberto D’Aversa spoke to Parma Calcio 1913’s official site. This is what the Coach had to say: “Given the strength of the opposition and the importance of the match, it’s certainly a game where the right attitude is required. I think that every match needs to be played with maximum determination and commitment, while there always needs to be the objective of picking up a result irrespective of the difficulties there may be. They shouldn’t ever become an excuse.”

“This match is an opportunity for those who will take to the pitch. As for the players who haven’t been named in the matchday squad, this is because we have to try to ensure that they’re fit enough for Sunday’s game. At the moment, those who will be setting off for Rome are undoubtedly more match fit than those who we haven’t picked. Let’s not forget that there were players who shouldn’t have played in Reggio Emilia last Sunday, they said they could play and ended up getting a bit battered. The lads that will take to the pitch tomorrow are simply in better shape than the others.”

“I’m not expecting tonight’s Lazio side to have changed their style of play, it’s a team that we’re well acquainted with given that we’ve come up against them in the past few weeks. We need to build on the 60-70 minutes where we matched them in our previous meeting and get rid of those errors which prevented us from picking up a good result.”
