Emmanuel Banahene was the only Ghanaian player who got on target abroad over the weekend but Michael Essien marked his debut for Chelsea in the English Premier League after coming off the bench in their 3-0 win at West Ham United on Saturday.

Former Hearts of Oak playmaker Uriah Asante also appeared on the Astra bench in Romania after joining them from Etoile du Sahel. While Sulley Muntari picked an injury during AC Milan's game this week.

There was also a debut for English-born Ghanaian youngster Bernard Mensah in the English Championship.

ENGLAND

Michael Essien marked his Premiership debut for Chelsea this season after coming off the bench to replace Eden Hazard in their 3-0 away victory over West Ham United.

Emmanuel Frimpong failed to make the Arsenal first team squad once more when they posted a 2-0 win over Southampton.

Elsewhere in the Npower Championship, German-born Ghanaian versatile forward Jeffrey Schullp was unused by Leicester City who beat Ipswich Town 2-1.

Young attacker Bernard Mensah marked his debut for Watford this season after coming off the bench to play in their 1-0 home defeat to Bolton Wanderers.

Winger Albert Adomah played the entire minutes of the game for Middlesbrough who suffered a 2-1 away loss at Leeds United.

Youngster Koby Arthur was axed from the Birmingham City team when they drew 1-1 against Blackpool.

In the League One, midfielder Prince Buaben did not travel with Carlisle United on Saturday when they drew 0-0 with Rotherham United.

However former Liverpool attacker David Amoo played part of the second half for Carlisle.

SPAIN

Ghana striker Richmond Boakye-Yiadom started for Elche FC and lasted 65 minutes in their 3-2 home win over Valencia on Sunday in the La Liga.

Elsewhere in the Segunda Division, Atletico Madrid loan star Thomas Partey was not in the Real Mallorca team when they beat Deportivo Alavés 2-1.

In the Segunda B, former Kotoko midfielder Michael Anaba scored for Elche B in their 2-0 win over Olot on Saturday.

Midfielder Isaac Nana Asare played for Atletico Madrid II in their 2-1 win over Conquense on Sunday.

Paul Quaye was in action for Espanyol in their 1-1 draw against Atlético Baleares on Sunday.

Former Ghana U20 star Clifford Aboagye played part of Granada II's in their 2-1 loss at Cádiz.

Jacob Nii Martey Akrong was on the Guadalajara bench when they posted a 3-1 win over La Roda.

GERMANY

Kevin-Prince Boateng lasted 89 minutes for Schalke 04 in their 3-3 draw at Hertha Berlin.

Karim Bellarabi returned to the Eintracht Braunschweig and played full time in their 1-0 home loss to Freiburg.

Elsewhere in the Bundesliga II, midfielder Charles Takyi came off the bench to play in Energie Cottbus's 4-1 home loss to FSV Frankfurt.

Marcel Appiah dropped to the Arminia Bielefeld bench when they lost to Bochum.

Reagy Ofosu was not in the team Ingolstadt that beat FC Koln 1-0 in an away fixture.

ITALY

Sulley Muntari picked an injury and was replaced in the 46th minute by Valter Birsa in their 1-1 home draw against Genoa on Saturday.

Midfielder Isaac Cofie came off the bench to play the last 12 minutes of the game for Genoa.

Maxwell Acosty was introduced in second-half stoppage-time by Chievo Verona who picked their first win of the season after beating Hellas Verona 1-0. Youngster Moses Odjer watched the game from the bench.

Afriyie Acqauh played 15 minutes for Parma who surprisingly beat Napoli 1-0 at their own backyard on Saturday.

Kwadwo Asamoah was in a wonderful shape for Juventus and helped them to beat Livorno 2-0 at their Stadio Armando Picchi on Sunday evening but young midfielder Alfred Duncan was not in the Livorno team.

Raman Chibsah watched from the bench when his Sassuolo side beat Atalanta 2-0 on Sunday.

Youngster Emmanuel Gyasi remained with the Torino second team when the first team squad beat Catania 4-1. AC Milan loanee Kingsley Boateng was not in the Catania squad.

In the Serie B, defender Masahudu Alhassan helped Latina to manage a slim 2-1 away win over Palermo on Sunday.

Amidu Salifu was axed from the Modena first team squad for their game against Ternana which ended 1-1.

Brescia and Cesena shared the spoils in a 0-0 draw. Both Mase Nana Addo Welbeck and Moro Al-Hassan warmed the Brescia and Cesena benches respectively.

In the Serie C, Fiorentina loanee Daniel Kofi Agyei played full time for Benevento when they won 4-1 against Barletta.

NETHERLANDS

Youngster Shadrach Eghan continued his impressive performance for FC Twente after setting up a goal in their 5-2 win over NAC Breda. Jeffrey Sarpong also played for Breda.

Meanwhile, FC Groningen and PEC Zwolle played a goalless drawn game on Sunday. Striker Fred Benson played full-time for PEC as well as defender Johan Kappelhof for Groningen.

Christian Atsu lasted 75 minutes for Vitesse Arnhem in their 3-0 away win over Go Ahead Eagles. Defender Kodjo Amevor warmed the bench for Go Ahead Eagles.

Defender Mitch Apau was at the heart of defence for RKC Waalwijk in their in their 1-0 win over Feyenoord but forward Elvis Manu was not in the Feyenoord team.

Kwame Quansah and Matthew Amoah both played for Heracles Almelo in their 3-0 away defeat but Edwin Gyasi was unused.

Memphis Depay lasted the entire duration of the game for PSV Eindhoven in their 1-1 draw with Heerenveen.

Elsewhere in the second tier league, Dordrecht suffered a 1-0 home shipwreck against Fortuna Sittard. Both Erixon Danso and Patrick Amoah played for Dordrecht and Sittard respectively.

Youngster Elton Acolatse and Kevin Tete were not in action for Ajax II when Den Bosch defeated them 4-1 on Sunday evening.

FRANCE

In the Ligue 1, defender Jonathan Mensah played the entire 90 minutes for ten-man Evian TG who were humbled 4-0 by visiting Lorient on Saturday.

With Andre Ayew missing in action with injury, Jordan Ayew was a second-half substitute for Olympique Marseille in their 3-1 away win over Ajaccio on Friday.

Injury returnee John Boye watched from the Route de la Lorient stands when his Stade Rennes side were held by Bordeaux in a 1-1 draw.

In the Ligue 2, striker Kwame Nsor inspired leaders Metz to a 2-0 win over bottom-placed CA Bastia on Friday.

PORTUGAL

Full-back David Addy was in full-time action for Vitória Guimarães when they lost 1-0 to Sporting CF in the Liga Sagres on Sunday evening.

Crocked midfielder William Tiero was not in action for Gil Vicente in their 3-2 away defeat to Maritimo on Sunday.

SWITZERLAND

Young Boys kept their impressive performance in the Super League after beating bottom-placed Lausanne Sport 3-2 on Saturday. Striker Samuel Afum came off the bench to play a crucial role for YBs.

Ishmael Yartey and Ebenezer Assifuah both played for FC Sion in their 4-1 away defeat at FC Zurich.

DENMARK

Midtjylland got beaten 1-0 by Brondby at their home grounds. Defender Kolja Afriyie played the full game for Midtjylland.

Danish-born Danny Amankwaa came off the København bench to play in their 4-1 thrashing of Viborg. Another Danish-born Kevin Mensah missed the game with suspension but his younger brother Jeff Mensah sat on the Viborg bench.

BELGIUM

Daniel Opare dropped to the Standard Liege bench when they won 1-0 against Mons.

Club Brugge completed a double over Lokeren this season after beating them 3-0 at their own backyard.

Ghanaian youngster Eugene Ansah was not in the Lokeren team while Enock Adu Kofi warmed the Brugge bench.

ARMENIA

Former Berekum Chelsea defender Samuel Kyere was in action for Shirak FC in their 2-1 away win over Pyunik but former Medeama midfielder Jacob Apau was not in the Shirak team.

AUSTRIA

Defender Isaac Vorsah was not in action for Red Bull Salzburg in their 2-1 away loss to Rapied Vienna.

ROMANIA

Astra Giurgiu posted a heavy 5-0 win over Botosani in the Romanian Liga I on Sunday. Midfielder Seidu Yahaya played full throttle for Astra but former Hearts of Oak midfielder Uriah Asante sat on the Astra bench.

Striker Sadat Bukari was not in the Astra team.

SOUTH AFRICA

Awal Mohammed and Frank Sarfo-Gyamfi both played for Maritzburg United in their 2-1 away reverse to Golden Arrows.

Daniel Agyei and Abdul Basit were in action for Free State Stars when they drew 1-1 with AmaZulu.

UAE

Al Ain have dropped to seventh place on the log after losing 1-0 to leaders Al Ahli on Sunday. Asamoah Gyan played the full 90 minutes for Ain.

Emmanuel Clottey lasted the entire duration of the game but failed to find the net for AL Dhafra as they got beaten 6-2 by Al Shabab.

TURKEY

Jerry Akaminko played full throttle for Eski?ehirspor when they lost 1-0 to Trabzonspor.

In the second-tier league, Emmanuel Banahene scored the match winner for ?anl?urfaspor as they overcame Bucaspor 1-0.
