Striker Stephen Manu is adamant he is almost a Hearts of Oak player but club officials have vehemently denied these claims.

Reports rife suggests an amount of 40,000 Ghana cedis plus striker Osei Pele have been tabled by the former African champions for the services of the lanky New Edubiase hitman.

However Hearts CEO, Fred Crentsil and some members of the recruitment committee claim no knowledge of the reported deal.

"No negotiations as far as I am concerned have been made with respect to the signing of Stephen Manu," Crentsil said when contacted for confirmation of the reports.

However, Manu told Hot FM on Tuesday: "The New Edubaise boss called to inform me of a desire expressed by Hearts of Oak and a gave him and my manager the go-ahead to start negotiations.

"The last I checked, I was told negotiations are far advanced and are almost at the concluding stage so it appears I would be joining Hearts."

The perceived transfer has stirred yet another controversy with football administrators arguing the validity of the move when the player registration process ahead of the new Premier League season has elapsed.
