Outspoken football administrator Takyi Arhin has bemoaned government's decision to appoint Bashir Hayford as head coach of the Black Queens.

The CAF/FIFA two-man Liaison team on Monday appointed Bashir Hayford as head coach of the Ghana women's national team, the Black Queens, with Mercy Tagoe named as his deputy.

Several football advocates expressed their displeasure with the decision by the two-man Liaison team who have been given the mandate by government to lead football reforms in the country.

According to Takyi Arhin, the appointment of the veteran trainer was a mistake on the part of the Liaison team as there are much more competent budding trainers who can do the job.

"I don't understand this recycle thing. We have young and competent coaches who can do this job adequately. They are hungry to enrich their CVs so why not give them a chance instead of recycling the same old coaches," he told Happy FM.

"Why appoint Bashir Hayford when we have these people doing great job."

Meanwhile, Coach Hayford has commenced training with the team at the Ghanaman Soccer School of Excellence in Prampram ahead of the forthcoming African Women Nations Cup which will be hosted by Ghana.

Mercy Tagoe guided the Black Queens to win the maiden edition of the WAFU Zone B Women's Cup in 2018, beating host nation Ivory Coast 1-0 in the final.
