Coventry City manager Frank Lampard has revealed that Ghana striker Brandon Thomas-Asante's assurance of readiness played a significant role in his selection for the match against Middlesbrough.

Thomas-Asante had been out with an injury but convinced Lampard of his fitness.

Thomas-Asante came off the bench and played 18 minutes, registering an assist in Coventry City's 2-0 win over Middlesbrough.

Lampard praised his performance, saying, "Shout out to Brandon who came on showed physicality, speed and desire. He's been injured, came back, trained well and has been telling me he's ready and he showed me he was ready today and he had a massive impact on the game."

The win has secured Coventry City's place in the playoff semifinals, where they will face Sunderland on May 9 and May 13 for a spot in the finals.

The team is competing for a qualification spot in the English Premier League next season, alongside three other teams, including AFC Sunderland.
