COVID 19: Eleven Wonders to go for loan to settle March salaries of players

Published on: 13 April 2020

Ghana Premier League side Techiman Eleven Wonders will resort to loans to settle salaries of their players for the month of March, according to CEO of the club Albert Commey.

Eleven Wonders like many other GPL clubs have been hit hard by the effect of the coronavirus, which has rendered all teams inactive hence the difficulty in raising money to finance their expenses.

Bankroller of the club Nana Ameyaw has also been affected by the pandemic with his business at a standstill due to the coronavirus.

"March Salaries are outstanding for both players, technical and administrative staff which is close to 50 persons,' Albert Commey told Oyerepa FM.

"If it should remain like this, paying April salary too will be very difficult and we shouldn't forget these players are also breadwinners of their various families, he added.

The club is calling on government to help the local teams in this difficult times as the players depend on their salaries to cater for their families.

Commey continued: "We will be happy if Football could get it's share of Government 's stimulus package so we can pay them their salaries,it's not easy for us.

"Looking at the scary nature of Covid-19, you just have to sacrifice for everything.

"We had to meet the owner of Techiman Eleven Wonders at his village on Sunday on how to pay these salaries and Nana Ameyaw told us if even we have to go for a loan facility to pay them we have to because his cashew business has halted, a previous consignment sent to China has not being sold and no export has being done as well."
