Techiman Eleven Wonders Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Albert Commey, says it will only take the intervention of God for football to restart following the latest directives from Ghana's President Nana Akufo-Addo on measures to curb the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
The 2019/20 Ghana Premier League has been suspended since March this year due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
The president’s address last Sunday on measures taken to curb the spread of the coronavirus saw another extension in the ban on sporting activities to July 31.
Football clubs were hoping football activities could return behind closed doors as there were reports that the Ghana Football Association had met the government’s team on the presidential COVID-19 team to propose that option.
However, football wasn’t considered as part of the sports to restart their activities.
Albert Commey says the extension of the ban will be difficult for clubs and they will need God’s intervention to survive.
“Our leaders don’t really regard sports in the country. Unless God intervenes and I know He will show His strength. The last meeting we held, we were finding ways to pay our salaries. The bankroller is a businessman and COVID-19 has affected him immensely, he told Happy FM.
“We are hoping to raise some funds for the clubs”, he added.
