Cristiano Ronaldo and Florentino Perez's reunion

Published on: 20 January 2021

Some normality has returned to the relationship between Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid president Florentino Perez after the pair met in Turin on Tuesday for the first time since last year.

Communication between the pair had broken down following the Portuguese forward's Real Madrid exit, but Cristiano's presence at the Clasico on March 1, 2020, signalled a repairing of burnt bridges.

Perez's visit this week to Juventus' training ground was the natural follow-up to the first reunion and confirms the easing of tensions.

In fact, in recent months Cristiano and Perez have exchanged messages and on Tuesday the two chatted like old friends.

Real Madrid miss Cristiano's presence; there's simply no replacing a player of his stature, while the Juve player still feels a connection to his former club.

Cristiano's departure from Real Madrid was inevitable, as he sought a new challenge and Los Blancos wanted to look towards the future, but neither have thus far found what they wanted: another Champions League trophy.

Time will tell if a sporting reunion is on the cards - in what would be a dream for many, perhaps for both these men too - but for now, Cristiano still has a year and a half left on his contract in Turin and was simply catching up with an old acquaintance.
