Defender Daniel Opare believes Ghana can stop Cristiano Ronaldo when they clash with Portugal at 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

The 23-year-old is confident that his colleagues can control Ronaldo and are not intimidated by the Portuguese super star.

He’s excited to play against his former Real Madrid teammate, but insists Ronaldo is just another opponent.

“He (Ronaldo) is one of the best players in the world and indeed the reigning World best player. So you can imagine the task on our hands,” Opare is quoted by Happy FM

“I played against him in a friendly during a training tour in Qatar. Don’t forget also that he was my former colleague at Real Madrid and we trained together.

“For us he’s just an opponent that we intend to tackle at the World Cup.

“We have to fight for each other when we meet Portugal or any of the teams because we want to progress and do well.

“He is a footballer and so why not?, I can handle him. I don’t want to talk too much. Let’s wait for the time and we shall all see how it goes.”

Ghana will play Portugal in the final group G game but the clash has been dominated by the country’s ability to stop the reigning World Player of the Year.

The Black Stars will also engage old ‘friends’ USA and Germany in a group hugely touted as the ‘group of death’.
