Cristiano Ronaldo expected to be available for Manchester United clash

Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to be available for the club’s match with Manchester United on October 23 after seeing red against Valencia.

The Portuguese star was sent off in the 29th minute of the Bianconeri’s 2-0 victory against Valencia after being accused of pulling Jeison Murillo’s hair.

A decision on the length of the suspension will be made on September 27, but La Gazzetta dello Sport reports Ronaldo is expected to only be handed a one-match ban.

Article 50 states that a straight red comes with an automatic one-game suspension, while the UEFA disciplinary bodies can extend that ban should they choose to.

The Italian news outlet states that all signs point to a short ban, meaning Ronaldo will likely only miss Juventus’ home match with Young Boys on October 2.

That means he will be available for selection for the Bianconeri’s big clash with Manchester United at Old Trafford on October 23.

Ronaldo featured for United from 2003 to 2009, netting 84 goals in 196 matches.
