Crouch urges Harry Kane to resist Madrid temptations and cement Spurs legacy

Peter Crouch has warned Harry Kane that leaving north London in search of trophies may not be the sensible move.

Tottenham's main man has regularly been linked with Real Madrid, among other clubs, in the past, a natural consequence of his outstanding record for both club and country over recent seasons.

However, the former Spurs striker believes that Kane would be wise to stay where he is and cement his legacy, suggesting that success abroad may not bring the same satisfaction.

'I think if you win something at Tottenham, it is going to mean 10 times more than going to Real Madrid and winning something,' Crouch told the Daily Star.

'Sometimes the grass isn't always greener. He's a top player and he deserves the best so nobody can begrudge him anything if he wants to move.

'But I just feel like if he thinks there's a chance of winning something at Tottenham, I think it would mean far more to him than if he went somewhere and perhaps won a league title in a different country.

'Whereas at Tottenham, if he finishes there or he manages to win something there, they'll have a statue built for him, wouldn't they?'

Kane has been in sparkling form for Tottenham this season, scoring 12 goals and providing 11 assists in just 18 Premier League matches.

And Crouch, who was at the club when Kane was first started to break into the first team in training, has nothing but glowing praise for the England captain.

'I wouldn't say he burst on the scene and we all went "wow" but he always used to score in every game in training,' he said.

'There was definitely something about him. The way he has worked on his game and improved it, he's like a manager's dream. Any sort of young player should look up to someone like him.'
