Crystal Palace are reportedly weighing up a move for Lucien Favre as their new manager after talks with former Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo broke down earlier this week.
Palace initially wanted to appoint a manager with Premier League experience but with the process dragging on and a number of players considering their futures, the club have decided to relax their requirements.
According to SkySports.com Favre, who was sacked by Borussia Dortmund last December is now under consideration for the position.
The 63-year-old is renowned for developing young players which is of great appeal to Palace; who insist their next manager utilises talent from their academy to supplement their first team squad.
The south London club also previously considered Frank Lampard, Patrick Vieira, Swansea boss Steve Cooper and Barnsley's Valerian Ismael before entering talks with previous target Santo.
The former Wolves boss is understood to have been hugely impressed with the project at Palace during his discussions with the Eagles.
However, club officials pulled the plug on their attempts to make Santo their manager after he made a series of demands.
The fact Wolves finished just one point and one place above Palace in the Premier League is understood to be the key contributing factor behind why they refused to meet a set of new stipulations made by Santo late on Tuesday night.
Former Palace boss Roy Hodgson left Selhurst Park at the end of last season after four years in charge. He guided the Eagles to a 14th-placed finish.
