Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson says unsung hero Jeffery Schlupp deserves more praise from all and sundry.

Schlupp scored Palace's second of the game, in a comfortable 2-0 victory against Fulham last week in the English Premier League

He was on hand to score an easy tap-in, after good work from new signing Michy Batshuayi.

Schlupp is now the third top goal scorer at the club, scoring his fourth in an important victory.

"As a coach, you have to come to terms with that. It's quite strange that players that sometimes receive the fanfares and in particular the players who are heralded by the fans and fan groups aren't always the ones - if the truth be told - that we coaches think are the most important people in terms of helping us to win games," Hodgson said.

"I've always believed in Jeffrey Schlupp. I believe in him as a left-back, I believe in him as a left-sided player and I believe in him as a left midfield player in a three because he has a lot of qualities and it's great if you're going to write something positive about him because it certainly backs up what we feel about him and he's been a little hard done by.''
