Crystal Palace forward Jeffrey Schlupp had to be substituted in the first half of Ghana's World Cup qualifier against Ethiopia on Friday evening.

Schlupp who started the match in an attacking role which is unusual when he plays for Ghana suffered a hamstring injury.

The 28-year-old fell to the ground in the 27th minute without anyone tackling him and signalled to head coach Charles Akonnor to replace him.

Germany-based Daniel Kofi Kyereh replaced Schlupp. The attacker's debut for the Black Stars having earned a late call-up.

Few minutes after he was substituted, Mubarak Wakaso scored after his long-range strike surprisingly beat Ethiopia goalkeeper.

Schlupp is out of South Africa game in Johannesburg due to UK covid restrictions so must now focus on returning to action soon.
