English-born Ghanaian forward Daniel Agyei played a part as Oxford United defeated Portsmouth on penalties to book League One play-off final ticket on Monday.

After playing 2-2 on aggregate, Oxford United managed to see off Portsmouth during the penalty shootout to reach the play-off final.

Pompey were the bookies favourite going into the game despite playing 1-1 with their counterparts at Fratten Park on Friday.

Marcus Harness put them ahead in the 38th minute after dominating the opening minutes.

However, Ellis Harrison’s own goal on the stroke of half time saw the match end in another 1-1 draw.

Agyei was introduced on the 86th minute as replacement for Mark Sykes.

Oxford United are into the final at Wembley on 13 July where they will face either Fleetwood or Wycombe.

Agyei has scored three goals with an assist in his 22 appearances for Oxford United in all competitions.

He joined Oxford United on a three-year deal from Premier League side Burnley last summer.

Agyei who was born in London to Ghanaian parents is eligible to represent either Ghana or England in future
