Daniel Boateng agrees new Arsenal deal

Arsenal starlet Daniel Boateng was being targeted by Chelsea and AC Milan prior to signing a new contract, skysports.com understands.

Boateng, who can operate in central defence and midfield, is already an imposing figure and is hotly tipped to make the breakthrough with the Gunners.

Arsenal were aware of interest in the 17-year-old, but they secured his immediate future when he signed a three-year contract at the start of this month.

Both Chelsea and Milan were aware of Boateng, but he has progressed well at Arsenal since joining and opted to remain with the club.

Away from Arsenal, there is also a battle to secure Boateng's international allegiance.

Although London-born, he also has Ghanaian heritage and they are desperate to include him in their youth set-up, but England are also hopeful he will opt for the country of his birth.
