Ghana coach Charles 'CK' Akonnor has defied critics and named under-fire Amiens midfielder Emmanuel Lomotey in his starting line up against Sudan in Thursday’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
The 23-year old will be making his second appearance for the national team after making his debut in that 3-0 defeat to Mali in the international friendlies last month.
Lomotey’s call up has come under a lot of backlash from some section of the media and the fans after he failed to impress in the international friendly games against Mali and Qatar.
The call-up of the former Dreams FC enforcer has sparked widespread conspiracy theories after he flattered to deceive on his maiden appearance for the West African giants.
The combative midfielder has gotten the nod to start in the CK Akonnor’s team and must justify himself in this crucial game against the North African side to quash those assumptions and reports.
Ghana lead the group with six points and will be searching for a win at home to cushion their chances of securing early qualification to the tournament.
Starting line-up
