David Duncan hails referee Nuhu Liman in Kotoko stalemate

Hearts coach David Duncan has hailed the performance of referee Yakubu Nuhu Liman in their 1-1 draw against arch-rivals Kotoko.

The class one referee has come under fire from Kotoko fans especially who felt his performance was below par.

They have accused him of denying them a penalty after Hearts defender Robin Gnagne seems to have handled the ball after falling onto the ground during a challenge with striker Kofi Nti Boakye.

That singular decision and others which they claim went in favour of Hearts denied them the potential win.

But the ex-Ashantigold trainer has heaped praise on the class one referee for his excellent performance.

“The referee was superb. I think he did very well and deserve commendation,” Duncan said

“The margin of errors was virtually negligible and for Hearts and Kotoko match you will say he did extremely well.

“There were few calls which I thought were wrong but his total performance was good.”

Debutant Kobina Winful opened the scoring for Hearts with a sublime finish before Michael Helegbe headed home the equalizer in front of a packed crowd at the Accra sports stadium.
