De Zerbi: I will give everything at Palermo

Published on: 06 September 2016

New Palermo coach Roberto De Zerbi has said he will give his all to help the side in Serie A and will take the blame if something goes wrong.

De Zerbi takes over from Davide Ballardini, who left the Rosanero last week, and becomes the first new coaching change of the 2016/17 Serie A season just two games in.

“I have the belief that we can do well despite knowing the difficulties involved,” De Zerbi told the press.

“To take a team running in Serie A is not simple, but I have the courage and the ideas to give it all that I’ve got.”

Serie A is a new area of work for De Zerbi in terms of his coaching career, as he took charge of Serie D club Darfo Boaria and Serie C side Foggia before moving to Siciliy.

“I realise the scale of this organisation, I speak of the leaders and the structures,” he said.

“I do not want to remove or blame anything or anyone, it will all come from me.”

In terms of his plan for the club, the 37-year-old is open to talks with club chairman Maurizio Zamparini should the two disagree.

“I am always open to discussion,” he said.

“We have already talked, to not listen to someone for 37 years would be a sign of low intelligence.”
