England-born striker Kwesi Appiah looked delighted on Tuesday evening as he joined the Ghana national team for the first time in four years.

The AFC Wimbledon attacker was part of the 21 players who trained with the side on Tuesday ahead of Saturday's Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Kenya.

He was beaming with smiles as he met some of the players he excelled with at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea where they finished second.

Appiah is making a surprise return to the Black Stars after being out of the team for four years after recovering from the injury he suffered while training with the team.

Appiah was included in coach Kwesi Appiah's 24-man squad for the final Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Kenya in Accra on March 23.

The 28-year-old was invited into the team by erstwhile manager Avram Grant for the 2015 Afcon.

Appiah excelled at the tournament, making four appearances and scoring a goal as Ghana finished second.

Since then, Appiah has been overlooked largely due to recurring injuries.

However, Appiah has been called up after returning to best form this season in the English third-tier. He has featured prominently for Wimbledon, scoring five goals.

He will be expected to start in the dead rubber match.
