Manchester City midfielder Fabian Delph has admitted that his time at the Etihad Stadium so far has not been ideal.

Delph left Aston Villa to join City in the summer under acrimonious circumstances and the midfielder has been unable to make a mark at his new club due to a host of niggling injuries.

The 26-year-old finally managed to show his class in City's recent 3-1 victory over Southampton by putting in a man-of-the-match performance and following the fine display, the England international is now hopeful of avoiding further injury frustrations.

The former Leeds United man said: "It's been a bit of a rollercoaster ride.

"I've had some little niggles but I'm over them at the minute so it's time to push on and try to improve my game.

"It's been frustrating but I'm finally over it so I need to kick on."
