Ghana international midfielder Derek Boateng started his second game of the season for Fulham in the English Premiership but he was unable to help them avoid a 2-1 home loss to Swansea City on Saturday.

Fulham manager Martin Jol handed the 30-year-old his first league start since August but he made little impact in the middle and was eventually replaced on hour mark by Steve Sidwell.

Fulham who are languishing at the drop zone, were hoping for a positive results but Swansea proved superior and picked all the three points at stake in the game.

The Cottagers fell behind after the break after Aaron Hughes scored an own-goal but Scot Parker equalised for the home side.

With Boateng off, Sidwell's introduction to the middle failed to provide the solutions for the Whites as former Liverpool attacker Jonjo Shelvey scored a late winner for Swansea City.
