Di Francesco: I’m here for the good of Roma

Eusebio Di Francesco insisted he isn’t thinking about his own future after Roma fought back from behind twice to edge out Genoa 3-2 at the Stadio Olimpico.

The Giallorossi coach needed a win to save his job and his players delivered despite protests in the stands, as the Curva Sud remained silent for the first 10 minutes of the match as part of their protest against owner James Pallotta.

“I’m not here to think about myself, but for the good of Roma,” he said in the Press conference.

“I’m calm and I’m always looking to give what I can, it’s normal that others make their evaluations.”

Roma’s fans were further enraged by their team’s defensive weakness as Genoa repeatedly carved them open, while the Giallorossi players were booed by their own supporters before, during and after the game.

“We don’t have much time to work,” Di Francesco said.

“We’ve worked a lot on set pieces. But a lot of people are suffering from the pressure of the place. On the pitch there are men, not just players who earn €2-3 million. This win will give us faith, but we must improve defensively.”
