Discarded AC Milan Midfielder Could Head to Genoa in Piatek Transfer

Published on: 21 January 2019

As both AC Milan and Genoa try to sort out the final details for the transfer of Krzysztof Piatek from the Rossoblu to the Rossoneri, Argentine-born midfielder Jose Mauri is the latest Diavolo player that could potentially be sent in the opposite direction.

The Grifone and the Diavolo have a history of completing many transfers with each other in recent and the Polish striker is expected to join the Milanese giants in exchange for €35 million and another player.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the latest name linked with Genoa is central midfielder Mauri, who has only played five competitive matches for AC Milan so far in 2018/19. With the lack of playing time at the Rossoneri, the former Italy youth international could consider a move in order to gain more opportunities.

Former Genoa midfielder Andrea Bertolacci was considered in the deal but he will decide on his future once his contract expires in June. If Mauri doesn’t join the Grifone, Milan youth goalkeeper Alessandro Plizzari might move to the Genoese side instead.
