DISGRACE! Opposition team tried to KILL Crystal Palace's Kayla the Eagle

An opposition team has attempted to KILL Kayla the Eagle, Crystal Palace's mascot.

Chris Belsey, who looks after Kayla at Eynsford's Eagle Heights, said the team, who he did not want to name, had targeted the bird during a warm-up.

He told the Croydon Advertiser: "I've been at Selhurst with the bird for five years and everyone loves her to bits. But one team thought they were being funny to try and hit her with the ball. I had to pull her off the pitch. It was disgusting."

A man has been arrested on suspicion of trying to punch Kayla at a different match, at Crystal Palace's Capital One Cup match against Charlton Athletic on November 18.
