Accra Lions were held at home by Vision FC after a pulsating 1-1 draw at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday.

The hosts had the chance to go top of Zone Three but a last gasp penalty miss left Accra Lions rueing missed chances.

Vision FC opened the scoring after a defensive mishap between right back Mensah Amu and goalkeeper Appiah Kubi, leaving Joseph Mensah with an empty net but sent in a cross which was met by Gideon Ofori for the opener.

Lions had dominated and created more chances, with one falling to skillful midfielder Alexander Agyarkwa whose effort hit the side net.

But just after his miss Accra Lions made it count this time after Kassim Osman rose high to head in the equaliser from a well worked corner kick.

Accra Lions were dealt a huge blow just few minutes before the break after top scorer Rauf Salifu suffered a knock.

Despite returning to the pitch before the referee's whistle, Salifu had to be replaced at half time by Michael Bempong.

Evans Ampofo nearly gave the host the lead but his stupendous shot hit the crossbar.

The midfielder came close again, this time meeting the cross of second half substitute Oliver Amedor.

Amedor, who was difficult to handle by the defenders of Vision was impeded in the box with the referee awarding Lions a penalty.

Forward Evans Etti elected himself for the spot kick but blasted it over the bar to keep the result at 1-1.

Accra Lions are just a point behind Tema Youth who are top of the table.
