Accra Lions fought from two goals down to draw 2-2 in a keenly contested game against Danbort FC at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday.

The hosts were down to goals from Ernest Gyan and Haruna Notogma before half time.

But two quick-fire goals from Rauf Salifu at the start of the second half led to an exhilarating finish to a very competitive match.

Lions could have taken an early lead after midfielder Hashim Ali was sent through by Evans Etti, but the former wasted the glorious opportunity.

Just a minute later the visitors took the advantage against the run of play after Ernest Gyan picked a lose ball and fired pass goalkeeper Owusu.

And at the stroke of halftime, Haruna Notogma’s long range strike could not be stopped as Danbort doubled their lead.

Accra Lions coach Rainer Kraft made two quick changes, bringing on Abdul Hamid and Dominic Nsobila for Abdul Rashid and Christopher Acheampong respectively.

Few minutes later, the changes inspired a spirited comeback as Evans Etti served Rauf with a delightful cross which he did not miss.

Abdul Hamid made his presence count after picking the ball from halfway the middle to send in a cross which was met by Rauf for the leveler.

The host dominated the game onwards and came close severally. However Danbort had chances if their own which they failed to take.

The draw means Accra Lions preserve their unbeaten home record in the division one league.
