Published on: 19 December 2006

At the Disciplinary Committee sitting last week for the Division One League, various punishments were meted out to liable clubs ranging from point deductions to fines.

The affected clubs are Mamobi Mitjiland, Adansiman FC, Eleven Wise and Conerstone FC.

Some club officials also picked up fines and were warned against any future misconduct.

Below are the decisions handed out by the Disciplinary Committee for the national Division One League:

- Case: Kaaseman vrs Cornerstone FC

Charge: Alleged attack on the referees by chairman of Cornerstone FC that attracted some supporters, who in the process harassed, insulted and assaulted the referees.

Decision: Cornerstone FC is accordingly found guilty for misconduct of their supporters and that under and by virtue of Article 35 (4) of the GFA rules and regulations they shall be held responsible for the conduct of its supporters. Cornerstone is therefore fined 3 million cedis.

That the conduct of the chairman of Cornerstone Mr S. Mawule amounts to misconduct in terms of Article 35 (7) (d) of the GFA rules and regulations and he is hereby fined 2 million cedis and cautioned to be of good behaviour.

- Case: Metro Stars FC vrs Eleven Wise

Charge: Team manager of Eleven Wise verbally assaulted the referee and this incited the supporters to throw missiles at the match officials.

Decision: That the supporters of Eleven Wise threw missiles at the referees and the team manager of Wise - Fuseini, verbally assaulted the referee and incited the supporters to misbehave.

That the conduct of supporters of Wise amounts to misconduct in terms of Article 39 (7) (9) of the GFA rules and regulations.

That under and by virtue of Article 35 (4) of the GFA regulations, Wise shall be held responsible for the conduct of its supporters and is hereby fined 3 million cedis.

That the conduct of Fuseini amounts to misconduct in terms of Article 35 (7) (d) of the GFA regulations and he is hereby fined 2 million cedis.

-Case: All Stars vrs Zaytuna

Charge: All Stars submitted that Zaytuna declared their strip for the match as green and yellow shorts over green tops. All Stars submitted further that at the match Zaytuna appeared in yellow shorts instead of the colours declared.

Decision: The report of the match commissioner does not support the allegation made by All Stars and in the absence of any other evidence, the committee is of the opinion that Zaytuna was in the correct strip.

In the circumstances, Zaytuna did not conraene the GFA regulations and are therefore not liable. Accordingly the protest by All Stars is dismissed.

- Case: Kessben Soccer Academy vrs Adansiman FC

Charge: Kessben S.A. filed a protest against Adansiman FC for allegedly fielding four unqualified players during the league match between the clubs played on September 30.

Decision: It is true that the players were registered in 2004 and that their cards indicate a contract for 3 years to expire in 2007.

The clear provisions of the rules and regulations state that as amateur players they cannot enter into contracts for more than 2 years and that once the players are retained after 2 years they should be registered anew.

It is therefore the view of the committee that all four players of Adansiman FC have not been duly registered according to the rules and regulations.

The players were therefore unqualified to play for Adansiman FC in the match against Kessben S.A. on September 30 according to Article 43 (1) (g).

Kessben S.A. are declared winners of the match and awarded 3 points and 3 goals.

Adansiman FC shall lose 3 points from its accumulated points.

Adansiman FC is fined 2 million cedis and 1 million cedis (50% of fine) of which should go to Kessben S.A.

Case: Seven United FC vrs Mamobi Mitjiland

Charge: Seven United lodged a protest against Mitjiland for using the player Seidu Mutala in their match played on October 15.

Decision: That the player should have been registered by Sparks FC on his return from a loan spell so that he could be transferred to Mitjiland with his Card A and a release letter from Sparks FC.

That from all the documents submitted it is clear that the transfer of Seidu Mutala to Mitjiland FC was not done according to Article 27 of the regulations.

The player was therefore an unqualified to play in their league match played on September 24 according to Article 34 (1) (g).

Seven United FC is declared winners of the match and awarded 3 points and 3 goals.

Mitjiland FC shall lose 3 points from its accumulated points.

Mitjiland FC is fined 2 million cedis and 1 million cedis (50% of fine) of which should go to Seven United.

The Division One League shall determine the transportation expenses of Seven United which shall be paid by Mitjiland FC.

All the fines and expenses shall be paid according to the GFA regulations.
