DOL: DOLB puts Zone One League Matches on hold

Published on: 06 September 2016

The Division One League Board (DOLB) wishes to inform all stakeholders that the remaining league matches in Zone One have been put on hold indefinitely in order to have some judicial cases fully resolved.

This decision has been taken in the wake of alleged bribery and match fixing claims made by some supporters of BA United after their Match day 28 game against Bolga All Stars FC at the Sunyani Coronation Park.

According to reports, some supporters of the club attacked their officials and retrieved some amount of money which they claim was bribe from Bolga All Stars.

The DOLB has written to the GFA Ethics Committee to commence investigations and ascertain the full facts in the case before the league resumes.

Another reason for the DOLB’s decision to halt the league in Zone One is to allow the GFA Prosecutor to charge Bawku United for missing their last three consecutive league matches and for the Disciplinary Committee to come out with its ruling on the case.

The Board believes when these cases are fully resolved it will ensure a smooth and successful end to the season with the best club promoted to the Premier League.
