Bernard Dong Bortey has issued a groveling apology to Asante Kotoko fans as he nears a massive move to the Ghanaian giants next season.

The Kotoko faithful have been resisting moves to sign the explosive winger after he took an enticement fee and swerved the club to sign for rivals Hearts of Oak in 2001.

The Aduana Stars attacker has confirmed he is set to join the club after completing personal negotiations.

But fears his past might scupper a dream move.

He told Oman FM: ''The fans should forgive me for what happened in the past. I was young at that time and didn’t know many things. But now I'm matured and so if my actions hurt the fans, I’m sorry."

''I want to play for the club and that’s one of my dreams and so it wasn’t intentional to leave them at the last hour. A lot of things happened at that time and so all I can say is that they should forgive and forget. I am positive when I join the club next season I will make them happy.''
