The reported imminent transfer of forward Bernard Dong-Bortey to Asante Kotoko has been canceled, GHANAsoccernet.com has been informed.

The ex Hearts of Oak player has rendered an apology and must now fight to justify his place at Aduana Stars under new coach Aristica Cioba.

"I can confirm that Bortey's transfer to Kotoko has been canceled and the player has even offered an apology to the club," Operations Director of Aduana Stars, George Gyawu exclusively revealed to GHANAsoccernet.com.

"The player is expected in Dormaa by next week and must fight for a spot in the team just like all the others."

Gyawu also denied reports that the club's new Romanian coach has asked management to expressly recall the 28-year-old.

"I can tell you that there is no truth associated with the news making rounds that the coach has asked management to recall Bortey.

"The coach just came in and therefore doesn't even now the players much less have specific preferences.

"He is using the same yardstick to measure all the players and Bortey is no exception," he added.
