Italy's Nations League semi-final defeat to Spain will be forever etched in Giannluigi Donnarumma's memory.
The goalkeeper returned to the Stadio San Siro for the first time since he left AC Milan to join Paris-Saint Germain.
Many Rossoneri fans have still not forgiven him for leaving and they made it known by whistling at him every time he touched the ball, despite Donnarumma defending his nation.
In response, Donnnarumma expressed his love for Milan.
"I spent eight years at Milan, so it is always a thrill to return to San Siro," he commented.
"It is normal to receive whistles. I have grown up here and have always been a Milan fan.
"Those eight years are not easily forgotten.
"I will always love the Milan fans, I will always be one of them."
As a declaration of love to his former club, Donnarumma has got an AC Milan tattoo on his arm.
