A former supporters chief of the Asante Kotoko Bernard Xiel has said Dr Kofi Koduah Sarpong is the best Chief Executive Officer the Ghanaian giants have had over the past two decades.

The Porcupine Warriors have had several chief executive's but none has performed than Dr KK Sarpong, according to Xiel who served as board member under Dr Sarpong's administration.

The current Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) boss was in charge of the club for only three years from 2010 to 2013.

"Dr KK Sarpong has been Kotoko’s best chairman since 2000," he said on Nhyira FM.

In 2010, Dr Sarpong was honoured by his King Otumfuo Osei Tutu as the Asantehene, who is the owner of Kotoko, appointed as the club's boss.

The club won two Ghana Premier League titles, two Champion of Champions titles, and two FA Cup Runners-up positions.

Strategic co-operations with foreign clubs were also established with Sunderland A.F.C. in the United Kingdom, TP Mazembe in DR Congo and Petro Luanda in Angola.

However, his departure was acrimonious as he was accused of under-declaring monies made for the transfer of players.

After Asante Kotoko, Sarpong took up the position of Chief executive of The Global Haulage Group, a Ghanaian cocoa buying and exporting company.

He was also the chairman of the boards of The Royal Bank, Ghana and Imperial General Assurance Ltd.

He resigned from boards in 2016 and currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of GNPC.
