Dr. Kwaku Frimpong is still running AshantiGold SC as president and bankroller despite relinquishing his role in the club.

It has been revealed to GHANAsoccernet.com that the prominent businessman is still financing the Obuasi based club even though he has step down.

Dr. Frimpong announced his resignation from the club about a fortnight ago following a 1-0 home defeat to Bechem United in the Ghana Premier League.

The outspoken man was booed by the club's own fans at the end of the match leading to his decision to quit the club the next day.

AshantiGold travelled to Tarkwa to play relegation threatened Karela United in the next fixture and it was Dr. Frimpong who took charge of the finances of the club.

Even after the game in which the Miners won 2-1, it is believed that the man has settled the winning bonuses and other incentives to the players and the technical staff.

Other prominent men in Obuasi have spoken to Dr. Frimpong to rescind his decision to take his position as president and financier of the club and an announcement could be made very soon.
