Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom questions GFA’s decision after Elmina Sharks’ sanctions

Published on: 28 March 2025

Elmina Sharks bankroller Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom has expressed his dissatisfaction with the Ghana Football Association's (GFA) decision to fine him and impose a stadium ban on his club.

In a post on his official Facebook page, Nduom questioned the timing of the GFA’s ruling, referencing the Black Stars' recent victories.

"GFA Paaa…Black Stars win two, and they want to start something? Okay," Dr. Ndoum posted, implying that the GFA’s action was ill-timed and unnecessary.

The sanctions follow an incident during Sharks' Division One League match against Swedru All Blacks, where Nduom was found guilty of inciting attacks on referees and entering the field without authorization.

As a result, he has been fined GHS 10,000 and warned of harsher penalties for future misconduct. Additionally, Elmina Sharks will play the remainder of the 2024/25 season behind closed doors after being found guilty of failing to ensure match officials' safety.

The club has been fined GHS 20,000, with a warning that any breach of the closed-door sanction will lead to a 10-match home ban.

The GFA’s action is part of efforts to curb hooliganism in Ghanaian football, reinforcing its commitment to discipline and safety.
