Dreams FC defender Abdul Bashiru has expressed disappointment at the Premier League Board for snubbing him for the defender of the year award in the 2015/16 PLB Awards.

Inusah Musah of Hearts of Oak was voted the defender of the season but Abdul Bashiru says he deserved to have won it.

“It’s very disappointing. How can I be nominated for the player of the year category and fail to even win the defender of the season? I am very disappointed,” Bashiru said.

The intelligent left back who played 28 matches and emerged player of the match on nine occasions fell out of the race with Kotoko captain Amos Frimpong who started 26 games and scored 8 goals.

Bahiru apart from being nominated the defender of the season was also nominated for the player of the season category and the player says he can’t fathom why he was denied the gong.

“If I am good enough to be nominated for the player of the season category which I could have won, then why am I not good enough to win the defender of the season award?

“I am the only defender who was nominated for the player of the season category so how come another defender who was only nominated for the defender of the season was given the award? Bahsiru unhappily interrogated.

The 2016 PLB Awards have been heavily criticized by pundits with the defender of the season, the cameraman of the season and the assistant coach of the season raising a lot of questions.
