Ghana midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang Badu says the Black Stars will reach at least the semi finals of the World Cup despite being left out of the final World Cup squad.

Some Black Stars players were bitterly disappointed not to have been named in the 23-man final squad and have refused to comment about the chances of the side.

But Italy-based midfielder has been gracious saying that the Black Stars have got what it takes to reach the last four of the tournament.

"I think the Black Stars will be in the semi finals of the World Cup because the team and the players are capable," Badu told Ghanasoccernet.com.

"We have got an excellent coach who is mapping out the right strategies for an important impression at the World Cup.

"We did it at the African Cup of Nations and I strongly believe we can repeat a similar thing at the World Cup too.

"The hunger of all the 23 players to help the country excel is there for all to see and I know Ghana is ready to make Africa proud."

Asked if the Black Stars would be stronger if he was included in the squad, the Udinese midfielder said the national team is not about personalities.

"Ghana is not about Agyemang Badu. There are more than 5,000 Ghanaian players who can play for the Black Stars so it is the country first," he said.

"All the players in the squad are there to die for the country so it is not about me it is about those on the battle field.

"We must encourage them and give them the support to help us achieve the dream of reaching the semis and making Ghana and Africa proud."

A knee injury scuppered his chances of playing in his first World Cup at 19.

Badu was a key player of Ghana's U20 side that won the World Cup last year and also played to help Ghana to finish second at the Cup of Nations in Angola in January.

He has returned to his Italy base to continue with treatment.
