Dropped Baffour to remain with Ghana's AFCON squad

Published on: 12 January 2012

Striker Emmanuel Baffour stay in the Black Stars camp has been extended at least 24hours before Ghana's opening group game against Botswana on January 24.

The New Edubiase hitman is being maintained as a stand-by to Asamoah Gyan and will be asked to replace the Al Ain striker if he fails to recover fully from a hamstring injury.

Though Ghana has submitted its final 23-man squad for the tournament in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea which excludes Baffour, a provision is made by Caf to replace a player 24hours before it's first game on medical grounds.

This means Baffour still stands an outside chance of playing in the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.

The 22-year-old has scored 11 goals in 12 games for New Edubiase which sees him top of the goalscoring charts of the Glo Premier League.
