Duncan set to be named as new Hearts coach

David Duncan is set to be named as the new coach of Hearts of Oak next week in a dramatic twist.

The former Ashantigold trainer has succumbed to numerous overtures after he initially rejected the offer to take over the position indicating his desire to take the mantle on a fresh note.

But officials of the capital-based club held fruitful discussions with Duncan on Thursday, where he has agreed to take over the job.

He is expected to put pen-to-paper on a two-year deal by the  weekend.

Ex-Liberty Professionals trainer JE Sarpong was the prime contender for the position but Hearts have opted to give the job to the former Ghana Under-17 tactician.

Duncan is known for his no-nonsense approach to business and deemed in many quarters as the ideal man for the job.

He will be required to stamp his authority and clamp down on indiscipline in the team.

Duncan’s first game in charge will be against arch-rivals Asante Kotoko on November 18 at the Baba Yara stadium.
